Year 9 Careers Education, information & guidance

 

Year 9 entitlement.

 

  • In Year 9 you will have a planned programme of Careers Education and Guidance in accordance with the DFE Careers Education Framework 7 - 19: Statutory Guidance: Impartial Careers Education.

  • The Careers programme will be delivered by your form tutor within form time and extended form time. You should receive 24 X 1 hour lessons, delivered as part of the Life curriculum.  In addition there will be careers guidance assemblies at various points throughout the year.

  • You will use U-explore to help you develop life skills, goals and target setting.

  • You will be given the opportunity to visit and explore the Careers library resource area and to use Careers websites.

  • You will have access to the Careers Library resource area form Monday - Friday 8.25 - 3.30. The area will be staffed at breaks and lunchtime.

  • Throughout the year in tutor time there will be the opportunity to reflect on progress so far, skills and qualities, and the opportunity to discuss goals and targets for the future.

  • The Schools’ Careers Advisor, Jane Device, Careers Co-ordinator, Mr Boulton, and your Progress Leaser, Mr Boulton, will be available throughout the year for careers advice and support.

  • There will be opportunities to explore the World of Work further through taster days, University visits and Employer engagement.
