  • Uniform Update

    7th April 2017

    Delta Academies Trust have agreed a uniform deal with SPT Uniforms with effect from September 2017.

    Our new Year 7 students will receive a free uniform "bundle" which will include a blazer, clip-on tie, two white shirts, trousers or skirt, rugby games top, PE sports top, PE sports shorts and long "football" socks.

    Student measurements will be taken during their intake day on Monday, 10th July by SPT Uniform staff and orders placed. The uniform bundles will be available to collect from the academy prior to th

  • End of Term Arrangements

    The academy will close for the Easter holidays on Friday, 7th April 2017 at 2.30pm and re-open for the Summer Term on Monday, 24th April at 8.20am. Please note that the last day of term is NOT a non-uniform day and students should attend wearing their school uniform.

    One of our Year 8 Maths classes chose an ingenious way of celebrating Pi Day today by using their bodies to create Pi to 4 decimal places.

  • Six Nations Rugby Kit Presentation

    2nd March 2017

    A huge well done to Jamie Major who represented the academy at Twickenham on Sunday, 26th February. Jamie was in the daunting position of being interviewed by the media and going on stage for the official unveil with England player Villy Vunipola. Jamie also rehearsed the national anthem with Laura Wright and performed it in the centre of the pitch in front of 82,000 people. Jamie took everything in his stride and was the ultimate amassador for our school.

  • KS4 Options

    Students in Year 8 and 10 are in the process of choosing their options. This is clearly outlined in an options booklet given to all students at our recent curriculum evening. If you have not received one of these booklets your child can collect one from the academy.

  • Internet Safety Week

    7th February 2017

    Safer Internet Day 2017 is being celebrated glovally on Tuesday, 7th February.

    The Academy will be conducting various assemblies this week to talk to, and raise awareness with, students about the the importance of being safe while online.

  • Parents Evening, Wednesday 8th February 2017

    Our Parents Evening this term is being held on Wednesday, 8th February betweenh 4.30pm and 7pm and is being held in conjunction with our Curriculum Evening.

    Where students reports have been noted that parental attendance is required at parents evening, an appointment sheet will have been given to them during form time today.

    Melior Community academy students who have made considerable progress for attendance and academic improvement have had afternoon tea with the Principal. This gave an opportunity for students to catch up and have some well deserved relaxation through a hectic exam period.

     

  • Improving Academy out of special measures

    Melior Community Academy was last inspected by Ofsted on the 13th and 14th December 2016. Melior Community academy is no longer in special measures.

    Ofsted inspectors delivered their verdict on Melior Community Academy in a report published today (Monday, 23rd January).

  • Uniform

    15th December 2016

    The academy has a clear uniform policy which has been shared with all parents. Students who contravene this policy will be dealt with through the academy behaviour policy. Parents who need financial support to purchase correct uniform, can request this through the academy hardship fund. Girls are expected to be in knee length pleated black skirts or tailored trousers and not pencil or straight skirts.

    A huge well done to one of our Year 8 students - Courtney Green on her fantastic "Waterfall Cake". Not only did Courtney create this masterpiece but then went on to share it with her classmates.

  • Non Uniform Day: Friday, 16th December 2016

    To celebrate the start of the festive season, the last day of term will be a non uniform day for staff and students. This will be free of charge.

  • Year 11 'Preparation for Exams' Evening

    We will be holding a 'Preparation for Exams' evening for our Year 11 students and their parents on Thursday, 8th December 2016 between 6pm and 8pm. The evening is aimed at supporting our students and their parents as they work towards their GCSE examinations.

    The event is sponsored by Vision for Education and pie and peas will be provided for those parents and students attending. Please see the letter below for further information or contact the academy.

  • GCSE Certificate Presentation

    15th November 2016

    GCSE certificates will be presented to our outgoing Year 11 cohort early in the new year. Further details will be sent nearer the time.

  • Remembrance Day - 11th November 2016

    To mark Rememberance Day, any students who wish to attend school in their cadet uniform on Friday, 11th November are welcome to do so. The academy will hold a 2 minutes silence at 11.11AM on this day to remember the members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty.
