English Institute of Sport

8th May 2015

On Monday 23rd March, Year 4 Gifted and Talented pupils from the three schools of Leys Farm, Outwood Academy Parkwood and Priory Lane Community School alongside leaders from Melior Community Academy, participated in a trip to the English Institute of Sport. The students  and staff had an amazing day where they got to look around the venue, and were given the opportunity, to see what it would be like to train in a facility alongside some of our present, and possibly future Olympians, as well as other professional sports people. The pupils were chosen because of their ability in sport and this was demonstrated when they took part in the two work shops of Athletics and Boxing.  The pupils demonstrated some excellent skills and were definitely exhausted by the end of the day. The day however, would not have been complete without meeting the first woman to win an Olympic boxing title. One of Outwood Academy Brumby’s aspiring female boxers was also lucky enough to snap a picture with her. What a fantastic day! Thank you to all involved.
