    Diana Award Roll of Honour

    We are delighted to announce that Melior Community Academy has been added to Lady Diana Roll of honour for our sustained work around anti-bullying.

    These students all come from different backgrounds in life, but they all work together as a group and on their own to make the school a safe and happy environment for others. They always put others first before themselves. Students have attended drop in at break and lunch, given up time in summer holidays to help out at summer school and attended year 7 camp help

    Parental Forum

    Some parents have raised an interest in establishing a parental support forum at the academy.

    This will be made up of a group of interested parents of students from across the Year Groups at Melior Community Academy, together with teachers and parent governors, who meet on a regular basis to discuss issues relating to your child's time at the school.

    The parental meeting scheduled for a small number of specific parents on Wednesday 13th of July at 4PM has been postponed.

    We do appreciate that this will be frustrating for you, and that good communication between the Academy and the home is essential in ensuring that students achieve more.

  • Industrial Action: Tuesday 5th July 2016

    The National Union of Teachers (NUT), who represent some of our teachers, have voted to take industrial action in the form of a one-day strike on Tuesday, 5th July 2016.

    The disruption created by this strike day, and the need to have regard to the health and safety of pupils, has been assessed and as a result the decision has been made to REMAIN OPEN and we are satisfied there is no risk to pupils' welfare

  • Non-Uniform Day

    Please note Friday 24th June is NOT a non uniform day and all students are expected to arrive at school in full school uniform.

  • Prom 2016: Friday, 15th July 2016

    As you may be aware, our Year 11 Prom is being held at The White Heather, Caenby Corner on Friday 15th July. The cost of tickets is £30 and the deadline for ordering is 30th June.

    Arrivals are anticipated between 6pm - 7pm with a prompt start of 7.30pm. The event will finish at approximately 11pm and parents should ensure that arrangements are in place for students to get home safely at that time.

  • Orlando Shooting

    20th June 2016

    Miss Hopkins and the students in the English Department have been doing some work based around the shootings in Orlando.  They have addressed issues such as homophobia, whether guns should be illegal or not in America etc. The students did this so sensitively and maturely and the work they completed was fantastic. 

    The responses the students prepared will be sent to the nightclub in Florida. (see Below).

  • New Behaviour Policy

    Please find below a copy of the New Behaviour Policy which will take effct from September 2016.

    In addition students will need to adhere to the following rules which take effect from Monday 6th June:

    • No makeup, nail varnish, acrylics or nail extensions are to be worn by students

    • No jewellery is to be worn by students

    • Hair should be cut in a style suitable for school and kept neat and tidy. Styles which are extreme or cause unnecessary attention, will not be tolerated. If any parent or student is in any doubt o

  • Success at the SouthBank Dance Showcase

    Well done to our Vocal Harmony Group and Elite Dancers who performed at the annual South Bank Dance Showcase at Grimsby Auditorium.

    The event is funded through the South Bank Dance Hub and has been growing in strength over the past few years. As always, we are hugely proud of what our students achieved.

  • Success at SPTA Games

    Our students once again did an outstanding job of representing the academy on Wednesday, 4th May.

    The annual SPTA games were held at The English Institue of Sport (EIS) in Sheffield, one of the country's largest multi-sports training centre. The competition is split into four categories, Under 13 Boys, Under 13 Girls, Under 15 Boys and Under 15 Girls.

  • Football :North Lincs School U15 Shield

    27th April 2016

    Melior were triumphant on 27th April in the North Lincs School U15 Shield.

    Our Year 10 boys football team won the North Lincs School Under-15 Shield after a closely fought match with Sir John Nelthorpe School.

    The match was won on penalties (9-8) after a 1-1 draw, Connor Moore being our goalscorer. Well Done!

  • Year 11 Intervention

    22nd April 2016

    As part of the on- going strategy to maximize the chances of each of our year 11 learners, we have put together a refined package of intervention that will be followed through to the examination. What this means is that as Core PE has come to a conclusion, students will be removed from this lesson in order to increase their chances in other subjects. Students will instead attend intervention sessions, thus creating additional revision time and lessening the pressure on the students involved.

    As we get closer the the Exam season, there have been some changes to the Maths classes in light of the recent PPEs. This is to ensure the needs of every student can be met through precise planning and delivery from our staff.

     

  • Y10 French/History Trip: Monday, 28th March

    Following the tragic events in Brussels, the SPTA have been in close consultation with the OEP (Outdoor Education Advisory Panel) regarding planned visits that are overseas or to a major UK based city or venue, and the potential risks posed by these types of visits.

    Current FCO (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) advice is for all schools to continue with their planned visits to France and consequently travel and insurance companies will not be prepared to offer refunds should an academy cancel a planned visit
