    Due to unforseen circumstances, resulting in a loss of electricity and heating, the Academy is closed for today (8th February 2016)

    The Academy will reopen tomorrow as usual.

  • Young Voices 2016

    Last Friday 100 pupils from Melior teamed up with Leys Farm Juniors to perform in this years Young Voices concert at Sheffield Arena.

    The group performed a range of material alongside other schools to create a mass choir of 5100 singers.

    The annual sell out trip was a huge success, so much so that we hope to sing our hearts out with an even bigger choir at the 02 Arena in London next year.

  • Education Welfare Officer Scam

    May we please draw your attention to a letter that will be going out to all parents today.

    The Education Welfare Service have made us aware of a scam that is currently under investigation by Humberside Police. The scam allegedly involves an individual visiting properties with offical Education Welfare leaflets and demanding payment of a fine in relation to school attendance with the threat of prosection should the fine not be paid.

  • Anti Bullying Week

    During Anti Bullying week, peer mentors lead assemblies to Yr7 and Yr8 about preventing and reporting bullying.

    We had posters displayed around school and poster competitions in form time.


    All form groups had information about how to recognise bullying on the daily bulletin.

    We held a none uniform day on Friday (Wear something blue)

    Stickers were made and given out to students.

  • Year 12 Presentation Evening

    23rd November 2015

    Our 2015 cohort of students had the opportunity to return to us on Thursday, 19th November for our Year 12 GCSE Certificate Presentation Evening.

    Students were presented with their GCSE certificates together with some special awards. Congratulations to Yasmin Mwambire who won our "Student of the Year" award.

  • Melior Library Launch - 6th November 2015

    Melior's new library was launched with huge success on Friday, 6th November with a host of activities and guests. The library has been built to help encourage reading and further improve literacy levels.

    Our new resource has been a community effort, with donations from residents and businesses as well as investment from the school. The central resource - rather than books being dispersed around the academy - has been built in what had been an open space outside the Geography department.

  • Students become 'Reading Learners'

    Congratulations and thank you to our fabulous new Reading Leaders who completed their training today. They were an absolute credit to the school and will be making a huge impact over the next term. Look out for more fantastic library opportunities soon. 

  • October - Staff 'Star Of The Month'

    Each month staff have the chance to nominate their colleagues for 'Star Of The Month'

    This is an opportunity for any staff member of the Academy to be celebrated for their work, supportive nature and dedication to the development of the students.  

    We are pleased to announced that our first winner was Mrs Gorbutt (Data, Assessment and Examinations Manager).

    Staff noted how helpful and approachable Mrs Gorbutt is.

  • 2FACED Dance Company

    22nd October 2015

    Last week, some of our year 8 boys took part in a Dance Residency with 2FACED Dance Company. The company is an all male dance company who focus on traditional contemporary style and fuse it with breaking. The professionals (James and Jake) were overwhelmed with our boys work ethic.

    The company will return in November for another day, before our students perform the work at the Plowright Theatre.

  • Bake for Macmillan Cancer Support

    21st October 2015

    On the 12th and 13th October, 9 Endeavour ( together with few pupils from other year 9 groups) stayed for period 6 to bake and decorate biscuits with a Halloween style to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.


    Their form tutor, Mrs Rimes, is also planning to do another bake before Christmas.

    Congratulations to the students on this achievement.

    Student Voice - English Department

    One of our Year 10 GCSE English classes expressed their interest in studying 'The Woman In Black' text when they found out it was an option in the exam.

    Mrs Fletcher, English Teacher, listened to their comments and this week took delivery of a class set of these books.

    We take student voice very seriously, and know the advantages it has in engaging learning at all levels. Happy Reading Year 10!

    We are thrilled to announce that we have now got SOLIDWORKS, the industry standard 3D CAD software used by major industry, universities and colleges thus creating a seamless transition for our students to take up the exiting range of stem subjects.

    If your child is in Year 7 or 8, they will have received a letter and booking form for the London 2016 trip. This is always a hugely popular experience for our students. This year sees us visiting the London Dungeons, The Sea Life Aquarium and the brand new 'Shrek's Experience' to name a few.
