The Academy would like to congratulate Harry Hamilton (Year 7) for competing and winning his first Judo contest to bring home a Bronze Medal. Harry also produced an excellent performance to take a Bronze Medal in his category at the Southend International.
On the 17th December 2014 we held a christingle service. At the end of the service students released balloons and were asked to consider what they were hoping for in the upcoming year, and the balloons were let off to represent how high their hopes and dreams could take them. The balloons were orange to reflect the oranges used in the christingle service. Attached to the balloons were tags asking if the balloon be found to be returned to the Academy.

Rob Vickerman, captain of the England Rugby 7s, has been assigned as our athlete mentor this year to support our school in promoting PE and Sport. We designed a project to promote our new house system which has been implemented through pupil voice. Our project was Inter Form Dri Triathlon, for which year 7 had to get themselves a team of 3 people to complete 2 minutes on a bike, rowing machine and treadmill. We would like to congratulate K Chabowski, a Year 8 student, who has won the Indidvidual Table Tennis competition for Under 13s and has become the North Lincolnshire Champion. This achievement has earned her a place in the next round in Hull in February. She won every game by 2 games to 0. A massive well done from all at Melior.
As from January 2015, the Academy will be offering a Wrap Around Care Service. The service will run from 7.30am - 8.40am and 3.00pm - 5.30pm. This service will be offered to parents free of charge with the exception of £1 per day should their child require a breakfast. If parents are interested in the service there is a request form/terms and conditions which will need to be completed. This form needs to be returned to Mrs Nixon at the Academy or emailed to: firstname.lastname@example.org

On Monday 15th December 2014 Melior will be having 2 special visitors at the Academy: Rob Vickerman (England Rugby Player) Chris Cook (British Olympic Swimmer). They will be delivering inspirational assemblies to Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11 students.
On Tuesday 2nd December, 2 students were chosen to go to Hull University to the Regional Ambassador’s Conference. The students chosen were A Simpson and C Cowling from Year 9. They were introduced to their role in school to be an advocate for PE and assist / organise their own clubs or competitions. We held a Number Day within the Academy whereby students took part in a treasure hunt around school and a brainteaser at lunchtime to win prizes. Many students took part from all year groups.

Please can parents of students in Year 9 ensure that you return your permission forms to enable your child to receive their DTP and Immunisations at the Academy.
For those ex-students who did not attend Year 12 Presentation Evening last night your GCSE Certificates can be collected from Student Services. Please note the certificates have to be signed for. If you are unable to collect your certificates in person then you must send in written confirmation for someone else to collect them on your behalf.
